St. John's Wort

I finally bought some SJW on Friday, since Meijer had all their vitamins/minerals buy one, get one of equal or lesser value free. Made sure to take it all weekend (1 tablet, 3 times a day). Got up when my alarm went off this morning, and I was alert and awake - ready to face the day. Granted, it may all be psychosomatic at this point, but I'll take what I can get. I already feel a little better, and no weird side effects thus far. Hooray!

Im getting some self worth back even from just haivng an interveiw Im taking the steps to reclaim my life that I have let crumble to the ground around me. Hope this kicked the SAD in the ass and you feel better .

YAY! Glad you are feeling better! Just a note - SJW interferes with hormonal birth control - don't know if/what you use, but it is something to keep in mind. I hope it keeps working for you!

Thanks Dawn - but we use NFP (the whole hog, with temps and charting and all that fun stuff) so no worries :)

I saw in your profile that you're an AmeriCorps member and you live in Michigan.

I live in Michigan and I was in AmeriCorps for two years! So of course I had to say hi. I'd love to hear more about what you do (or did) in AC.

Also, consider adding some fish oil. I've had really good luck since I started taking it in July. My overall mood is much better. I did find that I needed to take a little more than the recco'd dose--i.e. 2 capsules instead of 2. As an added bonus, I dropped a few pounds that first month too, without any change to diet or activity level.

The only caveat is that fish oil thins your blood a bit so if you needed surgery for any reason you would want to let your care provider know if it was emergent/or stop a few weeks prior if planned.

I hope SJW does the trick for you with the SAD, I get a bit of it myself. I usually notice it in March.

I used a tea St John's Good Mood before but now I am on enough meds that I can't risk the potential interaction.
